Welcome Letter
Dear Fellow Dental Student,
On behalf of the membership of Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity, we wish to take this opportunity to welcome you to The State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.
Alpha Omega is an international dental fraternity with well over 125 chapters and a membership of over 13,000 professional men and women. Founded on the principles of professionalism, fraternalism and Judaism, our fraternity's primary objective is to promote the profession of dentistry, while fostering high standards of scholarship, leadership and character.
As you now stand at the threshold to your future, you may well be apprehensive as to the path that lies ahead. Each of us has stood at that same spot and faces that same situation. Now we, in turn, are ready to help you, in any way possible, with your orientation and throughout your professional career.
As a student chapter we try to facilitate educational advancement in many ways - through seminars, dinner meetings, “lunch & learn” and especially from one to one contact with our alumni chapter. To meet these ends we have organized a "Big Brother/Big Sister" program in which students are paired individually with alumni members.
Alpha Omega is not limited to the local level, however; it is truly an international fraternity. Conventions and seminars are held throughout the year. The award winning Alpha Omegan magazine is published four times a year.
While the professional aspects of our fraternity are a primary importance to us, social activities are not neglected. Paintball, camping trips, wine tours and pool parties are some of the activities that provide our fraters with a needed break from studies.
